Parlee painted this superb piece in Stockwell for Remembrance Sunday, which marks the anniversary of the end of the First World War.

The concept is that the child is weighed down by the death of his family, such is the ugly nature of war. The poppy the boy is wearing is the traditional symbol of Remembrance Sunday. The helmet and fighter planes add to the symbolism.

The background letters “ERZ” stands for Essex Rockerz, Parlee’s crew. Great works in Stockwell never last long but at least they’re replaced with more great art!
